A shady character, who was recently released from prison, was Saturday night gunned down in Albouystown, Georgetown.
He has been identified as 28-year old Adrian Bishop of 188 Campbelville Housing Scheme and 66 Garnett Street, Newtown-Kitty, Georgetown.
Preliminarily, Demerara Waves has learnt that the man was involved an alteraction with a female who is a Detective. Guyana Police Force spokesman, Whitney Bacchus said at 11:09 PM in a statement that Bishop, who was wanted for robbery under arms, had assaulted her.
Bacchus explained that the police, accompanied by the reporter, went to Hill Street, Albouystown, where Bishop was pointed out to them. Bishop was informed of the allegation against him and was arrested and placed into the police vehicle.
“While being transported to the police station he held on to a policeman who was armed with a shotgun and a struggle ensued during which he was shot to his neck. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the GPHC (Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation),” the spokesman added.
Bishop was currently before the court on charges of robbery under arms and assault for which he had been placed on bail.
Bishop was one of three men who were recently arraigned on a charge of hijacking a businessman’s car earlier this month at Cross Street, Alexander Village. He was released on bail.
