Updated: Two suspects arrested in connection with shooting death of businessman near Botanical Gardens

Two men were arrested and a motorcycle seized as police intensified their investigations into the shooting death of a city businessman and injury to his wife Monday afternoon, police said.

Ashok Raghu was pronounced dead on arrival shortly after the shooting incident about 1 PM on Vlissengen Road near the Botanical Gardens. His wife , Shayrazadi Raghu,49, was shot to her left thigh. 

The suspects are said to be from the lower East Bank Demerara.

The Raghus of 77 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown were going to transact business with an undisclosed amount of cash when the bandits pounced on them at the traffic light.

The man tried to resist the bandits and he was fatally shot.
