An East Coast Demerara businessman was shot and robbed by heavily armed bandits who invaded his business premises Tuesday night.
N. Ramkissoon was shot to his left thigh and taken to a private city hospital for medical attention.
The men carted off an undisclosed sum of cash.
Eyewitnesses said the businessman was shot by one of three heavily armed bandits at his La Bonne Intention (LBI)-based N.R. Ramkissoon Lumber Yard and Highway Supplies.
The incident occurred about 9:05 PM when the men, wearing bullet proof vests and toques, and armed with rifles pulled up outside the store.
The security guard, who was slammed against the wall by the bandits, eventually escaped. The cashier failed in her bid to flee.
