The decomposed body of a female was Thursday evening found in a clump bushes at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, police sources confirmed.
Police were processing the crime scene which is on a deserted road aback the Caribbean Community Secretariat Annexe, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.
No one could immediately say who discovered the body in the clump of vegetation near a utility pole.
The remains have not been identified. Head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Leslie James hoped that the body is not that of missing St. Stanislaus teacher, Nyozii Goodman but he said that investigators were working on that as one of the theories.
The body was discovered five days after a Digicel umbrella and a brown handbag were found in the Botanical Gardens on July 19 about 4:30 PM. Those were believed to be Goodman’s property.
She went missing around July 3, the last time her brother spoke with her.
Goodman was last seen in Georgetown at the National Gymnasium where she had accompanied the St. Stanislaus Basketball team to the National School’s Basketball Championship.
