Two miners accused of stealing two ounces of raw gold were Tuesday granted total bail of GUY$600,000.

,42, of Belfield Housing Scheme and Royston Herod of 10 Two Friends Village pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

They were each granted GUY$300,000 bail and ordered to lodge their passports. The case was transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court where they will make their next appearance on June 12.

Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru had earlier objected to bail on grounds that the men posed a flight risk and that they were likely to be charged with other offences.

Defence Lawyer, Rexford Jackson said that after the occurrence, Herod fled the area but was later arrested in a sting operation. He said Morrison and Herod were employed by Wade.
