Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 20:59 by GxMedia

ARMED ROBBERY ACCUSED: Curt Simeon

One of three men, who carried out a number of brazen robberies at a wake in Kitty, was Friday arraigned on two counts of armed robbery before a City Magistrate.

19-year old Curt Simeon of Eccles, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty and was remanded to custody until May 29, when he appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.

He was refused bail because no special circumstances were provided to the court.

Simeon is accused of committing the offences at Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown on April 14,2014. Police said, accompanied by another person, robbed Shahab Ali of GUY$200,000 cash and one Blackberry cellular phone with a total value of GUY$223,000. The facts of the second count read that April 14, accompanied by two others, he robbed Anandkishore Sunilall of an Ice cellular phone valued GUY$7,000.

The Prosecution’s facts is that several persons were robbed at the wake-house but only two complained to the police. Simeon was arrested on Hogg Street, Albouystown by one of the victims and he was arrested and charged.

Defence Lawyer, George Thomas told the court that his client is being framed by one of the complainants who is known to the accused. Thomas said Simeon was placed on a one-man identification parade.
