Minibus kills elderly man

An elderly man was struck down and killed by a minibus early Wednesday morning as he attempted to cross the Haslington Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

He has been identified as 68-year old Vernon Gordon of North Haslington.

Police said he is alleged to have attempted to cross the Public Road about 5:30 AM when he was struck down by a mini-bus. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The bus driver is in custody as part of the investigations.
