New Amsterdam businessman, Charles Henry Bristol was Tuesday arraigned for the alleged murder of a man who had been squatting on his land for some time now.
Bristol, who lived in the United States (US) for several years, was charged with the murder of 51-year old Errol Lindo at High Dam, Caracas, West Canje on April 21, 2014.
Bristol, also known as Wheels or Charlie, of Main Street and Lad Lane, New Amsterdam was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Horatio Edmondson.
Albion Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh remanded Bristol to prison until April, 28.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Phillip Sheriff told the court that on the day in question Bristol and the man had an altercation over the demolition of a structure on the businessman’s land. Bristol was a licensed firearm holder.
An autopsy revealed that Lindo was struck by three bullets including one to his chest. He died from shock and hemorrhage due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Bristol’s car was burnt by irate residents.
