Couple robbed in Berbice; Bartica teenager shot

Bandits left an improvised shotgun behind after robbing a couple of GUY$1.7 million at their home at Yakusari, North Black Bush Polder, police said.

The incident occurred about 7 O’clock Tuesday night when two men entered an open door and held up the couple at gunpoint.

A bag containing the cash was carted off by the bandits. Police found the firearm at the scene during investigations.

Meanwhile, half an hour later at Bartica, teenager Andy Fraser, of Sixth Avenue, Bartica was shot at the Bartica beach.

Investigators were told that one of his friends took out a firearm and discharged a round that struck Fraser to his left foot.

He has been admitted to the Bartica Hospital, even as investigations continued.
