Man accused of hitting menstruating woman on vagina

A man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend by hitting her vagina with a piece of iron because she refused to have sexual intercourse with him.

Thirty-five year old Shawn Peters pf 183 Callendar Street, Albouystown was charged with unlawfully assaulting Ashanti Goodrich on April 13 at Charlotte Street, Georgetown. He was also charged with threatening behaviour towards Goodrich.

Peters pleaded not guilty to both charges and he was remanded to prison until May 20 when he would appear before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the court, presided over by City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan, that Peters went to Goodrich’s home. After she told him that she was menstruating and could not engage in sexual intercourse at that time.

The prosecutor further alleged that Peters became annoyed and lashed the woman several times on her vagina with a piece of iron.

Jones objected to bail because of the seriousness of the offence and the possibility of witness tampering.
