Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 20:59 by GxMediaA 26-year-old Mabaruma woman was charged with attempting to murder her niece after accusing her of having an affair with her husband.
The charged was read to Uenita Marcellino of Hubo Hill, Mabaruma, North West District by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry today and bail was refused. The matter was transferred to the Mabaruma Court for May 19.
Details of the charge said on Tuesday, April 8 at Mabaruma, in the North West District, with attempt to commit murder, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Lynette Morgow.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant said on that fatal day, the accused was under the influence of alcohol when a heated argument started between the parties.Marcellino then armed herself with a knife and dealt her several stabs about her body.
Grant opposed bail on the grounds that victim is still hospitalized and the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
