Alleged police killer surrenders

The man who allegedly shot dead a policeman during a triangular love affair disagreement surrendered Thursday afternoon.

A police force spokesman said 21-year old Steve Richard Bacchus turned himself in at the Sparendaam Police Station about 3 PM in the company of his lawyer.

He was wanted by the police in connection with the ā€œmurderā€ of Police Special Constable Quincy Wright at Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, on January 24, 2014.

Police said that Bacchus was also wanted in connection with the stealing of a gun from a security guard on January 22 in Sophia. The guardā€™s colleague was shot and injured.

Investigators were told that Wright was shot on leaving a female companionā€™s home at the same time that Bacchus had arrived but was told by the womanā€™s friend that she was not at home.

Instead, she had been inside the house with Wright, a late member of the Mounted Branch of the Police Forc
