Policeman shot dead

A policeman was Friday night shot dead in Tucville, Georgetown in what friends said was a triangular relationship.

Dead is Dexter Orlando Wright who was attached to the Mounted Branch of the Guyana Police Force.

Investigators were told that Wright was inside his girlfriend’s house at the same time another male companion of hers arrived and phoned her.

The woman sent a friend of hers to tell the other man that she was not at home.

Moments later, the policeman exited and was walking down the stairs when he was shot by the other man, a female eyewitness said.

Wright was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the crime scene, investigators did not find any spent shells. All they recovered was one slipper and a silver chain.
