GGMC official missing in boat collision

A senior employee of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) was Sunday still reported missing after a boat collision in the Pomeroon River, according to usually reliable sources.

He has been identified as Patrick “Police” Ramkellawan, a driller at the state’s regulatory agency for mining and drilling for hydrocarbons.

Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) was told that the boat that he was travelling in collided with a fishing vessel Saturday night. While the other persons, including the captain, were accounted for, Ramkellawan was not found.

The GGMC official was part of a team that went to check Friendship Canal area said to contain deposits of natural gas.

DemWaves was told that the captain and other persons have given statements to the police and are cooperating otherwise with investigators.
