Ituni-Kwakwani residents block deplorable road

Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 21:01 by GxMedia

Angry residents blocking a section of the deplorable road.
Residents of Ituni and Kwakwani in the Region 10 area Thursday blocked a section of the roadway restricting travel between the area and Linden .

Reports are that around 8 O’clock persons in the area placed several logs across the roadway resulting in a complete halt to vehicular traffic passing through the area.

A resident of the area noted  that the roadway has been in a deplorable state for several weeks now but the authorities appeared ill equipped to address the situation .She said that over the past two weeks a number of minibuses and smaller vehicles were stuck along the road which she noted is used as a main roadway connecting the area to Linden and other parts of the Coastland.

Reports are that the situation remained the same Thursday  evening as many residents lamented that as the new school year approaches many school children will be affected by the current state of the roadway.

Attempts to reach regional officials Thursday afternoon were futile as residents of the area pledged to continue their protest action until the authorities addressed the situation.
