A student nurse has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital after being doused with a corrosive substance.

She has been identified as 33-year old Ann-Marie Hutson. She was severely burnt on her back by the acid, according to hospital sources.

Demerara Waves Online News understands that the woman was walking towards the hospital sometime after 7AM when she was accosted by a male who threw the substance on her.

He arrived on a motorcycle, committed the act and fled the scene which was in the vicinity of New Market and Thomas Streets, Cummingsburg. Immediately after, she threw herself into a nearby gutter in an effort to relieve the pain.

DemWaves was told that she has been involved in domestic disagreements for some time now and had sought counselling with little success.
