A Detective Sergeant was Thursday night allegedly responsible for a four-vehicle accident on the East Bank Demerara Public Road, multiple sources confirmed.
A three-year old girl, who was in a taxi, was taken to a hospital, complaining of abdominal pain.
The accident occurred on the Eccles Public Road.
The policeman, who works on the West Coast- West Bank Demerara, is alleged to have initially refused to take a breathalyser test.
He was placed under close arrest.
The policeman could face charges such as driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.
