American mother arraigned for cocaine trafficking

Twenty-seven year old Patricia Dalrymple pleaded guilty to the charge that states that on April 20, 2015 she had 937 kilogrammes of cocaine in her possession for the purpose of trafficking. At the time she was an outgoing passenger at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

She was remanded to prison until May 7, 2015.

Police Prosecutor, Sean Gonsalves said anti-narcotics police searched the woman’s luggage and unearthed the cocaine in plastic bags at the bottom of her suitcase. She was informed of the offence, arrested and charged, said Gonsalves.

Defence Lawyer, Adrian Thompson said police could not link Dalrymple to the cocaine find and investigators were still working to determine who put the illicit drug in her suitcase.

Prosecutor Gonsalves objected to bail on grounds that no special reason was given.
