A female police corporal was on Tuesday arraigned on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and she was granted GY$500,000 bail, police said.
She was not required to plead, according to a police force statement.

Thirty-five year old Yonelle Cumberbatch of Eastville Housing Scheme, Annandale, East Coast Demerara was charged in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Thursday, October 30, 2025 about 07:30hrs on Success Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
The accident involved motor car #PAB 214 driven by Corporal Cumberbatch and pedestrian Navindra Mahes, a 15-year-old male of Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara who was pronounced dead following the incident.
On Tuesday November 4, 2025, Corporal Cumberbatch appeared before Senior Magistrate, Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to her.
As part of the bail conditions, Corporal Cumberbatch is required to lodge her passport with the Court and report to the police department on the first Monday of every month.
