Police arrested the prime suspect in Sunday night’s bombing of the Mobil gas station hours after offering a GY$5 million reward for locating him.
Earlier on Tuesday, police said they had discovered the clothing he was wearing when he went to the gas station with a bulky plastic bag to place in a waste disposal bin near a gasoline pump.
After the pump attendant disallowed him, he placed it not far from the cooking gas depot and not far from a parked car where the bag moments later exploded.
A six-year-old girl was killed and four other occupants in the car were injured.
Police said on Tuesday that acting on information received, a police squad headed by a superintendent, went to Vergenoegen sideline dam, East Bank Essequibo where the main perpetrator, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodomo, was promptly arrested.
He is in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigations into the tragic explosion.
