Fire strikes Ras Camo Williams’ residence

Well-known musician and sculptor, Ras Campton “Camo” Williams, his wife and daughter were Friday morning rendered homeless when fire gutted their two-flat apartment at Shopping Plaza, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Williams said he and his family lost most of their possessions in the fire that began shortly before 11 AM.

Williams has been living at the property, owned by Continental Group of Companies, since the 1980s.

While his instruments and audio equipment were not destroyed because they were at another location, he is worried about the fate of computer hard drives that contain large collections of music that he plays at various functions.

His art gallery on the lower flat was not affected by the fire, he said. He is uncertain about the cause of the blaze that began in the upper flat.

Back in March, 2013 Williams was injured in a collision on  D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown
