Berbice gold miner drowns in old mining pit

He is 17-year old Orel Fordyce of Paradise Village, West Coast Berbice.

The sources said that he went missing on Tuesday after he fell into an old mining pit that was filled with water at Arakaka. He was crossing the pit when tragedy struck.

His body was recovered Wednesday afternoon.

Fordyce was a student of Ahbu Private School, Number 4 Village, West Coast Berbice.
