Passports can now be uplifted from selected police stations

Last Updated on Saturday, 27 September 2014, 22:21 by GxMedia

Passport applicants will from next month no longer have to return to Headquarters of the Immigration Department to uplift their travel documents, the Guyana Police Force announced on Saturday.

The Guyana Police Force wishes to advise the general public that with effect from Wednesday October 01, 2014, passport applicants will be able to uplift their passport at locations around the country other than at the Central Immigration and Passport Office in Georgetown where issuing will however, continue as normal,” the police force said in a statement.

The locations where applicants can uplift their passports from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday are:

Ø   Central Police Station, New Amsterdam

Ø  Mackenzie Police Station

Ø  Parika Police Station

Ø  Bartica Police Station

Ø  Anna Regina Immigration Office

Ø  Lethem Immigration Office at the Multi Purpose Complex

Applicants are also advised that on submitting their application at the Central Immigration and Passport Office, they must indicate whether they will uplift their passport at the Main Office in Georgetown, or at one of the other locations so that it can be sent to the location they so choose.

Further, passports sent to Lethem will remain at that location for three (3) months, while for the other locations two (2) months, after which if not uplifted by the applicants, will be returned to the Central Immigration and Passport Office Georgetown.
