Man charged with beating his mother for money

Yogesh Manilall pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding his mother, Surujdai Manilall, on September 18 on Robb Street, Georgetown.

He was remanded to prison until October 21.

Police Prosecutor told the court that the woman was at a business enterprise when  her son met her and requested money. After she refused, he allegedly lashed his mother about her body with a bottle.

He was arrested following a report to the police.

The prosecution opposed bail based on the nature and gravity of the alleged offence.
