Elderly woman beaten and robbed, house burnt

Miss Canterbury’s house being engulfed by flames.

An 81-year old woman was rescued from a burning house at Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara late Tuesday night, villagers said.

Her only name has been given as Miss Canterbury who lived alone in a wooden house at Ann’s Grove Middle Walk.

Police arrested two teenagers  in connection with arson as well as beating and robbing of the woman.

Miss Canterbury has been hospitalised.
