A former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier early Monday morning burnt down his house after threatening to kill his family but he has so far not yet been arrested, according to well-placed sources. The incident occurred at Enterprise Railway Road, East Coast Demerara about 1:50 AM.
No one was injured in the blaze that quickly engulfed the one-flat wooden and concrete house.
Investigators were told that retired Sergeant Rawle Glasgow arrived home from work and had an argument. He allegedly threatened to kill his mother, reputed wife and three children.
Glasgow then set the house ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Relatives believed that the man might have drunk poison.
A relative claimed that Glasgow returned home and was enraged when he allegedly found his wife with a doll with his name and needles stuck in its head.
