A West Coast Demerara policeman has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of at least GUY$8 million from the coffers of the Guyana Police Force, according to well-placed sources.
The Sergeant, who is based at the Leonora-based Division āDā Headquarters, was placed under close arrest on Saturday, after an officer from the Finance Department at Police Headquarters , Eve Leary checked the records and found that the cash had been allegedly stolen.
Demerara Waves Online News was told that the alleged theft was committed over a period of time.
If the initial suspicions could be proven, the policeman would be charged with larceny by clerk or servant.
