Fire of unknown origin Saturday afternoon destroyed equipment at Beharry’s chowmein and curry factory at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, according to well-placed sources.
The blaze began around 4 PM and quickly destroyed two chowmein dryers in a small section of the chowmein and curry factory.
Company sources said fire fighters responded promptly and contained the blaze, preventing major damage.Three fire tenders were seen at the scene of the fire.
Investigators were trying to determine whether the cause of the fire was electrical.
In recent months, fires have destroyed two other chowmein factories- one at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and the other on the West Bank Demerara.
