The cases have been transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court where he will appear on July 24, 2013. Pending the outcome of the charges, he has been also ordered to report to the police every fortnight.
Police said that between August 26, 2013 and July 2, 2014 at Tiger Creek, Cuyuni River, being employed as a clerk or servant by Lakeram Singh, Nere embezzled that sum of money.
Defence Lawyer, Adrian Thompson told the court that the money was unaccounted for due to a mix-up at a Call Centre. Thompson said his client was charged after an agreement to repay the money within a specified time fell through.
