Ramotar explains weight-loss

President Donald Ramotar on Saturday explained his rapid weight-loss, saying that he has decided to go on a diet to generally keep fit and ease the weight on an old knee injury.

He told a news conference that he has reduced his protein intake and eating less at meal time. “I have just decided to cut back on quantities of foods, eating smaller quantities more regularly and cut out fatty foods as far as possible,” he said.

The President said he has “put aside my sweet tooth” and instead opted to eat more vegetables while at the same time continuing to work out.

Ramotar, known for his fast-pace walking, expected that losing weight would help him to cope with knee injury. “In a way there are some issues too. I had an old injury on the right knee and it was acting up a little bit more than usual so I thought that also losing the weight will help that a great deal,” he said.

Ramotar,63, said doctors have not influenced his decision to change his dietary intake.
