Berbice schoolgirl, adult in murder-suicide

A 14-year old Berbice Education Institute (BEI) student,  was Wednesday night murdered by her 23 year old boyfriend Kellon Sam before before he committed suicide.

The gruesome discovery was made around 5:15 Thursday morning by the teen’s foster father at Sister’s Village, East Bank Berbice.

Speaking to a senior detective close to the investigations, Demerara Waves was told that the teen  went missing about 8 O’clock Wednesday night and a search was launched but to no avail.

The search continued Thursday morning and Sam was found hanging from a mango tree in his back yard, while the teen was discovered a short distance away in a bushy path with a knife stuck in her neck.

Police are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, according to a statement issued by Guyana Police Force spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker.

Demerara Waves understands that two nights ago Adams returned home late from school in a taxi and her boyfriend who lives next door might have seen her kissing the taxi driver and since then they had been at loggerheads.

On Wednesday night Adams’ foster mother, who is a security guard,  left for work leaving her with her mother at the front house. However, when the foster father went home she was not there.  He and his wife then launched an unsuccessful search..

The foster parents, who had recently found out about the teen’s relationship with her neighbour, had urged her to break it off but she ignored their
