Several charged with murder of kidnapped businessman

Five men were Thursday morning charged with the murder of kidnapped businessman, Rajendra Singh.

They were remanded to prison until May 21, 2014.

Charged with the capital offence are Adony  James, 31 years, of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown; Sheldon Chase, 28 years of Pike Street, Kitty: Doonauth Ketwaroo called “Pumpkin”, 27 years, of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara; Tony Thomas, 27 years, of Bel Air, Georgetown; and Michael Lewis called “Jet Lee”, 37 years, of Sheriff Street, Georgetown,.

The businessman was kidnapped on April 5 and his bullet-riddled body was found on April 9 in the Le Repentir Cemetery.

The kidnappers had demanded a hefty ransom and the return of video surveillance footage.
