Drunken policeman knocks down child

Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 21:01 by GxMedia

A policeman, who was allegedly intoxicated, early Sunday morning struck down an 11-year old boy on the Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo Public Road.

“He was found to be a member of the Police Force and was over the legal limit in terms of consumption of alcohol,” police said in a statement.

The police force said the driver also failed to stop at the scene. The accident occurred about 2:40 AM.

Public spirited persons pursued the vehicle which led to the driver being subsequently arrested by the police at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, police said in a statement.

The lad was admitted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
