No new Cabinet faces for the New Year- Pres. Granger

President David Granger has ruled out bringing in new Cabinet ministers for the New Year, saying that he is satisfied with the performance of his ministers who reflect the make-up of the coalition.

“The team has remained intact although their functions have been modified and I feel confident going into 2017 with the same team,” he said on this week’s edition of the Public Interest.  Cathy Hughes’ initial portfolio of Tourism has been shifted to the Minister of Business and the Environment has been taken away from Raphael Trotman is now the president’s responsibility.

The President congratulated the ministers for the quality of work by his ministerial team. “They work very hard and I am very happy to work with them into the New Year,” he said.

In apparent reference to the six-party make-up of the coalition, Granger said the Cabinet’s composition was the best. “I would say that given the conditions and the circumstances that we found ourselves in,  in May 2015 this is the best Cabinet that was possible,” he said.

Cabinet Ministers drawn from the AFC are Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan; Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson; Minister of Public Infrastructure, Catherine Hughes; Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin; Minister of Agriculture, Noel Holder and Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo.

The other Cabinet members are drawn from the People’s National Congress Reform-dominated A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).
