BARBADOS TODAY: A 32-year-old Guyanese national was Tuesday ordered to keep the peace for six months and vacate his current home by 6 p.m. today.

Not only that, but Dexter Royston Plowell, of Rouen Road, Belle Gully, St Michael was also warned not to trespass on the premises he once shared with Jessica Walrond, after he admitted to using the threatening words: “If you know what is good for you, you should go outside or else I gine kill you.”

This allegedly occurred on October 16.

The court heard from police prosecutor Sergeant Neville Watson that Plowell and Walrond, who were in a relationship, had a dispute around 10:15 a.m. on the day in question. Plowell reportedly took the Walrond’s mobile phone and searched through it, while asking her to tell him who it was that had messaged her the night before asking if she had a good time.

“Having received no answer, the accused used the threatening words and, fearing for her safety ,the complainant . . .  reported the matter to the police,” the prosecutor said.

“Immigration is also interested in him.”

Plowell, who told the court that he had been living in Barbados for the past four years and had a young child with Walrond, said: “I am very much sorry about what I said. I felt that she was cheating on me . . . I checked her phone and a guy told her he enjoyed himself last night and she said she too . . . She said she was going out with two female cousins.”

However, when Walrond took to the witness stand, she told the court the relationship was over.

“We can’t get along because he is too jealous and I would like him to move. We don’t get along and it has been getting worse,” she said.

After speaking with Plowell, the magistrate imposed the conditions on him, with which he said he would comply.

If he breaches the six-month bond, he will spend three months in prison.

He was subsequently released into the custody of Immigration officials after investigations revealed that he had arrived in the country back on August 22, 2013.
