A taxi driver was Sunday night shot in Albousytown, Georgetown and subsequently died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, authorities confirmed.
He is 42-year old Oswald Rambarran of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. He was attached to 007 Taxi Service located at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown.
A close family member said he went to drop off some food at King Edward Street where two men on a motorcycle rode up and discharged several rounds.
Police said there were no immediate arrests.
It is not immediately clear whether he was part of an altercation. Police are working on the theory that the incident stemmed from a continual disagreement.
Investigators said they were told that a group of men was “liming” when the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and discharged several rounds.
Everyone scattered and moments after they realized that Rambarran was shot and he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed while awaiting a computed tomography (CT) scan.
A CT scan uses X-rays to make detailed pictures of parts of your body and the structures inside one’s body.
