One dead, two injured in Puruni accident

One gold miner was killed and two others seriously injured in a vehicular accident at Puruni, Region 7 early Thursday night.

The dead man has been identified as David Young. The names of the injured were  not immediately available.

Sources said the van, bearing number plate GPP 4724, in which the men were travelling was climbing a hill in “high gear” when it ran down and the driver lost control.

The injured miners were rushed to the Bartica Hospital in a truck. They were expected to arrive at the medical institution close to midnight.

The accident happened around 7 PM.
