A Brazilian gold miner was Tuesday morning shot and killed and another man severely gun-butted during an armed robbery, his wife told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com).
Dead is 52-years old Jose Francisco De Sousa Lima. Rebecca Calvan, said her husband was shot to his head.
The incident occurred on Sorabaro Road while De Sousa Lima and her stepson Julian Cummings were travelling on an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
The men were attacked and robbed around 8 AM about four miles from the gold mining camp which they had left around 6 AM to travel to Port Kaituma, she said.
Calvan said the three robbers took away a quantity of raw gold.
The men and Calvan lived at Charity Housing Scheme, Pomeroon.
