The semi-nude and battered body of a 90-year-old woman was found in an abandoned house on the East Coast Demerara.
She has been identified as Millicent Prince-Cummings.
Investigators said her body was found in the house opposite the former Belfield Girl’s School before 6 AM.
She lived 10 houses away from where her body was found. “Her face was swollen and her underwear was pulled down,” said one investigator.
The former farmer and cassareep vendor would have celebrated her 90th birthday on April 21.
Her nephew, Hugh October Prince, said her house was not opened or ransacked. He added that she had previously complained that persons wanted her property but he never “paid her any mind.”
Prince said her son seldom occupied the house with his mother.
Hugh Prince is the owner of a well-known liquor restaurant in the heart of the capital, Georgetown.
