A second person was Tuesday arraigned for the murder of the owner of Hamson’s General Store, Abdul Farouk Ghanie.Charged with the indictable offence is 17-year old Kemo Tyron Evans of 1, Water Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara.
Chief Magistrate, Ann Mc Lennan remanded the accused to prison until January 29, 2016 when he is scheduled to make another court appearance. Evans is charged with killing the Upper Regent Street businessman between April 15 and 16, 2015 in the furtherance of a robbery.The offence was committed at the businessman’s residence, 97 Collingswood Avenue, Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara.
Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru told the court that he would like Evans and Floyd Anthony Rammit, who was previously charged, to be indicted jointly for the offence.
Rammitt , who was arraigned in July, is expected to appear in court on January 27 again.
The Chief Magistrate advised the prosecutor that the two could only face the court on joint charge if the charge against Rammitt is withdrawn.
