A man, who had allegedly attempted to smuggle several kilogrammes of cocaine to the United States (US), was Tuesday refused bail and remanded to prison.
Lincoln Johnson pleaded not guilty to the offence of being in possession of 4.160 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri on October 23, 2015 for the purpose of trafficking.
Johnson was remanded to prison until November 12, 2015.
The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) alleged that Johnson was an outgoing passenger when anti-drug agents spotted a dark object in a black suitcase that the accused had submitted for scanning.
A search was conducted and the substance was found in the suitcase.
Police Prosecutor, Bharrat Mangru objected to bail on the basis that no special reasons were provided.
