Former Director of the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE), Samuel Small has died, according to a well-placed source.He was 90 years old.
Details are sketchy but Demerara Waves Online News was told that the veteran educator died overseas.
His body is expected to be taken to Guyana.
Small, who was the recipient of the Arrow of Achievement, served as IDCE Director up to 2006 when he retired.
The IDCE is the extra-mural arm of the University of Guyana.
Small is widely regarded as a major developer and advocate of adult education in Guyana and the Caribbean.
He began his teaching career when he was 17 years.
