The 39-year old man, who stole 90 feet of heavy duty copper cable from the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge, was Friday jailed for 12 months, police said.
Roy Morgan, of no fixed place of abode, pleaded guilty to simple larceny for stealing the GY$1.620 million worth of cable between August 23 and September 1, 2026.
He appeared today, Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court #5 before Magistrate Faith McGusty, where the indictable charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead and was subsequently granted bail in the sum of G$300,000, with the condition that he reports to the Ruimveldt Police Station on the third Friday of every month.
The matter was adjourned to October 2, 2026.
