A 48-year old man shot two sisters early Monday night while they were seated along West Front Road, West Ruimveldt, and he has since been arrested at a private hospital, police said.
The 26-year-old woman was shot to her left ankle and upper left leg, while her 31-year-old sister received gunshot injuries to her right foot and left leg. Police said they were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where they were in a stable condition.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said they have since seized a licensed 9 MM Glock pistol, along with two magazines containing a total of 27 live 9mm rounds of ammunition. Investigators said they found one spent shell at the scene of the shooting.
Investigators said they were informed that the two sisters, ages 26 and 31, were shot at about 7:30 PM by the man, who is a security guard, and lives on Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
“During the altercation, the 48-year-old security guard reportedly discharged several rounds from a firearm which was in his possession,” police said.
Police said the alleged shooter was contacted at a private hospital, where he was receiving medical attention for an injury received. His condition is also listed as stable.
