A 19-year-old woman is dead after a multiple-rollover of the minibus in which she was travelling at Moblissa, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, on Saturday morning, police said on Sunday.

The dead woman has been identified as Sarah Simon of Moblissa.

Investigators said the accident occurred at about 9:45 am in the vicinity of Rubin Sawmill, involving minibus BAK 9272, driven by a 22-year-old man of Moblissa.

“Initial enquiries revealed that the minibus was proceeding south along the eastern side of Moblissa Public Road at an alleged fast rate of speed when, while negotiating a left bend, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which turned turtle several times and ended up on the eastern parapet,” the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.

The driver was admitted as a patient.

The body was later transferred to the Linden Senior Citizens Association Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The vehicle has been lodged for examination by a licensing and certifying officer, police said.
