Tuschen man found dead in Georgetown

Last Updated on Sunday, 29 March 2026, 10:08 by Writer

The body of a male, believed to be that of a teenager, has been found in the Demerara River at the back of the Georgetown Marriott, Kingston, police said Sunday.

Police said no marks of violence were seen on the body.

Investigators said the body was found on Saturday morning at about 10:40.

“The deceased is an unidentified male who appeared to be of African descent and in his early teens,” police said in a statement.

Police were informed about the presence of the body by persons who were walking on the jetty at the Kingston Seawall.

Police said the body was later retrieved from the river.

The body was then escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits identification and a post mortem examination.

CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras were seen in the vicinity and will be reviewed, police said.
