Top officers of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), who participated in a United States (US)-sponsored executive leadership study tour and training programme, are now expected to be better equipped with skills and techniques to improve the operations of the civilian law enforcement agency.
“The program focused on strengthening crisis response, as well as command and control capabilities within the GPF,” the US Embassy said on Friday.
Eight GPF officers participated in the programme from March 9 to 12 at the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).
The embassy said during the training, GPF officers worked alongside MDSO law enforcement experts to explore best practices in interagency communication, risk management, and leadership in complex policing environments.
The delegation toured the MDSO’s Real Time Crime and Communications Center, as well as the Midwest District Station, gaining hands-on experience with advanced technology, interagency communication, and effective crisis response protocols, the diplomatic mission added.
CBSI is a U.S. security cooperation program with Guyana and 12 other Caribbean countries aimed at dismantling transnational criminal organizations, combatting illicit narcotics, and strengthening regional security cooperation.
The US says it remains committed to supporting Guyana’s law enforcement and security institutions as they work to improve public safety and regional security.
