Two East Coast Demerara men stabbed each other to death on Saturday morning at Bareroot, East Coast Demerara during a disagreement, police said.
The men were taxi driver Joshua James, 23, of Melanie Damishana Railway Embankment and labourer Jonathan Hassan, 25, of Coldingen.
The incident occurred, according to investigators, at 8:40 a.m.
“Enquiries disclosed that an altercation reportedly occurred between the two men at a residence in the area, during which both sustained multiple stab wounds,” the Guyana Police Force said.
James was observed leaving the yard and proceeding towards a motor car parked along the roadway.
He subsequently collapsed and was transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Hassan later left the location and was subsequently found motionless on a bench in the vicinity of a barber shop at Bareroot, with injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a statement.
Police said they visited and processed both locations, where suspected blood stains and other items were recovered as part of the investigation.
A motorcycle believed to be connected to the incident was also lodged, police said.
