Pistols, ammo, GY$8.5 million seized in Linden, one arrested

A Glock 19 9mm pistol, a self-made pistol (Polymer 80) and fifty-six 9mm rounds of ammunition were Wednesday found under a floor of a businessman’s residence in Linden, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said.

The GPF said the guns, ammunition and a total of GY$8.5 million were found during the operation at Mackenzie, Linden.

Police said the search, which was conducted in the presence of the businessman, 30, yielded the pistols and ammunition in the upper flat beneath the flooring of the bedroom.

Additional searches uncovered GY$6,915,000 and US$7,445 in a wardrobe in that bedroom.

The man is in custody and the suspected firearms, ammunition and cash were lodged pending investigation, police added.
