A 34-year-old woman of Tabatinga, central Rupununi was on Tuesday fined GY$1 million and jailed for one year after she pleaded guilty to violating the Cybercrime Act, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said.
In a statement, the GPF said Lorian Toney, an ambulance driver was arrested on September 25 and charged with using a computer system to humiliate, harass and cause substantial emotional distress.
Police said the victim was Maxine Hendricks.
Lethem Magistrate, Omadatt Chandan imposed the fine and custodial penalty after the woman pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
